Registration Issues at Westmont
The registration system at Westmont, while appears fair and effective, holds many issues. This proposal suggests that to help athletes, musicians, or any other student involved in an extracurricular, collegiate funded activity, they should hold some sort of priority when it comes to registration. It also addresses the issue of the poor notification when it comes to informing students of their ineligibility to register.
The Silent Polluter of Santa Barbara- Water Runoff
The issue of polluted stormwater runoff draining into Santa Barbara's waters is becoming more prevalent as it affects the surrounding environment and Santa Barbara residents. This proposal advocates for an increased awareness of polluted stormwater runoff, increased implementation of LID projects, and reducing runoff from agricultural sources in order to minimize the pollution of Santa Barbara's waters.
Fitness Center Hours at Westmont College
College is a crucial period for developing lifelong habits. Therefore, it is important for colleges worldwide to cultivate an environment that will promote healthy lifestyles through the programs they provide for the students. It is not enough for Westmont College to have a fitness center open; the facility must be made more accessible to all students. The Westmont College fitness center should have longer open hours.
The Problem with Chapel at Westmont
Three times a week, the students of Westmont College gather together in the basketball gym for chapel. Many students feel as if chapel is an unnecessary waste of time. However, there are a few simple that can be made to the chapel schedule to get the most out of each gathering.
Fighting Hunger To Save Others
Hunger is an issue that slips the minds of the fortunate. In reality, we often, unknowingly, interact with people who struggle with hunger. Though hunger may seem like an issue that can never be solved, there are steps that the local Santa Barbara area can take that can begin to combat this issue.
